July 4th Blanket

DSC01078 July 4th blanket

I received a generous donation of red yarn a few weeks ago and decided to make a blanket to honor July 4th. This blanket is larger (50×50) then most of the blankets I have made for Project Linus, suitable for an older child or teen.  A simple large granny square, with a finishing picot stitch to represent the stars on the flag. I didn’t plan it this way but finished just in time for Flag Day, just an added bonus! Happy Flag Day!

Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity. ~Kay Redfield Jamison

    • Depends on what your chapter may want.Mission Hospital in my area has stopped us from giving out blankets to babies under the age of nine months. There have been studies done that suggest that babies should be placed in the crib, on their backs with nothing else in the crib ( no toys….no blankets). I The requested size is 36″ X 45 this has just happened.
